Effect of Chitin- and Chitosan-Oligosaccharides on Soybean Nodulation by Rhizobium sp.

|
The effectiveness of chitin- and chitosan- oligosaccharides on the nodulation of soybean roots was investigated. One hundred 킡 of chitin oligosaccharides [(GlcNAc)1-6] and chitosan oligosaccharides [(GlcN)1-7] were treated to soybean roots, and then the roots immersed into Rhizobium sp. USDA 191 culture broth. The number of nodules was monitored after 7 days of treatment. The nodulation in all treatments of chitin/chitosan oligosaccharide was rather inhibited except (GlcNAc)4 treatment.
